Current status: Valid as Bregmaceros retrodorsalis Ho & Endo 2020. Bregmacerotidae. Distribution: Tosa Bay, southern Japan and tropical Pacific: Wallis & Futuna, Vanuatu, Fuji, New Caledonia and Chesterfield. Habitat: marine.
