Holotype: SAIAB 204583. Paratypes: SAIAB. Plus additional non-type material. •Valid as Upeneus floros Uiblein & Gouws 2020 -- (Uiblein & Motomura 2021:315 [ref. 38170], Echreshavi et al. 2022:16 [ref. 39234], Uiblein & Maclaine 2022:285 [ref. 39017], Uiblein et al. 2024:23 [ref. 40891]). Current status: Valid as Upeneus floros Uiblein & Gouws 2020. Mullidae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) north to northern Mozambique. Habitat: marine.
