Paratypes: (24) BMNH, KAUM-I, NSMT, SAIAB, SAM, USNM. •Valid as Stolephorus belaerius Hata, Lavoué & Motomura 2021 -- (Hata & Motomura 2021:11 [ref. 38794], Hata et al. 2023:199 [ref. 40153]). Current status: Valid as Stolephorus belaerius Hata, Lavoué & Motomura 2021. Engraulidae: Engraulinae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: east coast of Africa from Kenya to Mozambique and Madagascar. Habitat: brackish, marine.
