Paratypes: GCRL 17063-64 (1, 1); SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 74-82 (2), 516 (1), ?2478 (1), 9384 (1), 9937 (1). •Valid as Doryrhamphus bicarinatus Dawson 1981 -- (Dawson 1985:60 [ref. 6541], Dawson 1986:448 [ref. 5650], Anderson et al. 1998:22 [ref. 23611], Fricke et al. 2009:37 [ref. 30213], Kuiter 2009:176 [ref. 30404], Hamilton et al. 2016:Supplement 4 [ref. 35615], Fricke et al. 2018:123 [ref. 35805], Arndt & Fricke 2019:30 [ref. 36883], Moots 2022:450 [ref. 39722], Fricke et al. 2024:87 [ref. 41255]). Current status: Valid as Doryrhamphus bicarinatus Dawson 1981. Syngnathidae: Nerophinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), southern Mozambique, Madagascar and western Mascarenes (La RĂ©union) east to Maldives. Habitat: marine.
