marerubrum, Eviota Tornabene [L.], Greenfield [D. W.] & Erdmann [M. V.] 2021:161, Figs. 8-9, 16G [ZooKeys No. 1057; ref. 38592] Bay at El Himeira, Egypt, Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea, depth 21 - 27 meters. Holotype: USNM 218035. Paratypes: CAS, USNM, UW. Plus additional non-type material. •Valid as Eviota marerubrum Tornabene, Greenfield & Erdmann 2021 -- (Bogorodsky & Goren 2023:12 [ref. 40247], Shen et al. 2024:36 [ref. 41737], Golani & Fricke 2026:63 [ref. 42831]). Current status: Valid as Eviota marerubrum Tornabene, Greenfield & Erdmann 2021. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Red Sea endemic. IUCN (2024): Least Concern. Previously reported by authors from Red Sea as Eviota zebrina (non Lachner & Karnella 1978). Habitat: marine.
