K.] 2021:7, Figs. 1-2, 5A, 6A, 7A [Núcleo do Conhecimento [Nucleus of Knowledge, multidisciplinary Scientific Journal] v. 10; ref. 38807] Cachoeira de Emas, Mogi-Guaçu River, Pirassununga, São Paulo State, Brazil, 21°55'38"S, 47°22'04"W. Holotype: MNRJ 23103. Paratypes: MNRJ 23103 (5). Plus additional non-type material. Specific name treated by us as a noun. Named argentums in Fig. 8 and etymology. •Valid as Psalidodon argentum (Salgado 2021). •Possibly a synonym of Psalidodon fasciatus (Cuvier 1819) sensu lato. Current status: Valid as Psalidodon argentum (Salgado 2021). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: Mogi-Guaçu River basin, São Paulo State, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
