F.] 2023:36, Figs. 16C, 43-45 [Zootaxa 5252 (no. 1); ref. 40049] Outer reef slope, southwest of Temomoa Point, Duff Island, Santa Cruz Islands, 9°47'57"S, 167°05'16"E, depth 10 - 35 meters. Holotype: USNM 357198. Paratypes: BPBM, FMNH, ROM, USNM. •Valid as Opistognathus albomaculatus Smith-Vaniz 2023 -- (Fujiwara et al. 2023:362 [ref. 40475], Allen & Erdmann 2024:376 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Opistognathus albomaculatus Smith-Vaniz 2023. Opistognathidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Komodo (Indonesia) east to Solomon Islands, north to Philippines. Habitat: marine.
