Holotype: ANSP 133404. Paratypes: ANSP, BPBM, FMNH, ROM, USNM, WAM. •Valid as Opistognathus parvus Smith-Vaniz 2023 -- (Allen & Erdmann 2024:379 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Opistognathus parvus Smith-Vaniz 2023. Opistognathidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Komodo (Indonesia) and Brunei east to Fiji and Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands (Japan). Habitat: marine.
