Paratypes: (6). •Synonym of Puntius sarana (Hamilton 1822), subspecies orphoides (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:282 [ref. 20764]). •Synonym of Poropuntius burtoni (Mukerji 1933) -- (Menon 1999:83 [ref. 24904] as bartoni). •Valid as Puntius jayarami Vishwanath & Tombi Singh 1986 -- (Arunkumar & Tombi Singh 1998:256 [ref. 24931], Karmakar 2000:29 [ref. 25662], Arunkumar & Tombe Singh 2003:481 [ref. 26926], Vishwanath & Laisram 2004:131 [ref. 27863], Shantakumar & Vishwanath 2006:2279 [ref. 28676]). •Valid as Systomus jayarami (Vishwanath & Tombi Singh 1986) -- (Pethiyagoda et al. 2012:77 [ref. 32071]). •Questionably a synonym of Hypsibarbus myitkyinae (Kottelat 2013:112 [ref. 32989]).
