Holotype: USNM 398679. Paratypes: AUM, UAIC, USNM. •Synonym of Etheostoma rupestre Gilbert & Swain 1887, but a valid subspecies as described. Current status: Synonym of Etheostoma rupestre Gilbert & Swain 1887. Percidae: Etheostomatinae. Distribution: North America: Coosa and Tallapoosa basins of eastern Alabama, northwest Georgia and extreme southeastern Tennessee, U.S.A. [this subspecies]. Habitat: freshwater.
