Current status: Valid as Thryssa mystica (Hata, Lavoué & Motomura 2025). Engraulidae: Coiliinae. Distribution: Northern Indian Ocean: Persian Gulf, Kuwait, Arabian Sea to southern India and Sri Lanka. Habitat: marine.
