Current status: Valid as Monomitopus magnus Carter & Cohen 1985. Ophidiidae: Neobythitinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Bermuda and North Carolina (U.S.A.) south to northern Cuba, including eastern Gulf of Mexico. IUCN (2019): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
