Holotype: BPBM 28108. Paratypes: AMS I.22836-001 [ex BPBM 24736] (1), BMNH 1982.7.6.1 (1), BPBM 24736 (7), CAS 50733 (1), MNHN 1982-1007 (1), NSMT-P 21486 (1), USNM 235296 (1); plus additional material in addendum. •Valid as Paratrachichthys heptalepis Gon 1984 -- (Kotlyar 1996:194 [ref. 23292]). •Valid as Aulotrachichthys heptalepis (Gon 1984) -- (Mundy 2005:304 [ref. 28379], Randall 2007:142 [ref. 30952], Matsunuma et al. 2023:[15] [ref. 40199]). Current status: Valid as Aulotrachichthys heptalepis (Gon 1984). Trachichthyidae. Distribution: Central Pacific: Hawaiian Islands. Habitat: marine.
