Holotype (unique): NTM S10183-001. •Valid as Callionymus sphinx Fricke & Heckele 1984 -- (Larson & Williams 1997:367 [ref. 23967], Fricke 2001:3555 [ref. 26292] as sphynx, Fricke 2002:42 [ref. 26547]). •Valid as Repomucenus sphinx (Fricke & Heckele 1984) -- (Hoese & Bray 2006:1591 [ref. 29000], Larson et al. 2013:184 [ref. 32988]). Current status: Valid as Callionymus sphinx Fricke & Heckele 1984. Callionymidae. Distribution: Northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
