Paratypes: BMNH 1889.2.1.1788-1789 (2). •Valid as Setipinna wheeleri Wongratana 1983 -- (Whitehead et al. 1988:459 [ref. 5725], Talwar & Jhingran 1991:137 [ref. 20764], Kottelat 2013:54 [ref. 32989], Psomadakis et al. 2020:297 [ref. 37272]). Current status: Valid as Setipinna wheeleri Wongratana 1983. Engraulidae: Coiliinae. Distribution: Northeastern Indian Ocean: Myanmar endemic. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
