mweruensis, Oreochromis macrochir Trewavas [E.] 1983:438, Fig. 158 [ ref. 20940] Mobanga, Mweru, Democratic Republic of Congo. Holotype: BMNH 1967.8.23.1 [ex MRAC 85070]. •Synonym of Oreochromis macrochir (Boulneger 1912), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Trewavas & Teugels 1991:323 [ref. 20954]). •Valid as Oreochromis mweruensis Trewavas 1983 -- (Schwanck 1994:267 [ref. 22313], Marshall 2011:252 [ref. 31755] as moeruensis, Abwe et al. 2023:32 [ref. 39992]). Current status: Valid as Oreochromis mweruensis Trewavas 1983. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Southern-central Africa: upper Congo River system (Democratic Republic fo Congo). Habitat: freshwater.
