Paratypes: IOM (1, 1, 1); SIO H52-309 (1), 73-164 (1); USNM 226217 (1), 226785 (1 c&s); ZMUC P202724-25 (1, 1), P208152 (1). Additional material: SIO 54-95 (1). •Valid as Eustomias perplexus Gibbs, Clarke & Gomon 1983 -- (Harold 1999:1913 [ref. 24741], Love et al. 2005:38 [ref. 37547], Koeda & Ho 2019:102 [ref. 37152] in subgenus Nominostomias, Love et al. 2021:59 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:88 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Eustomias perplexus Gibbs, Clarke & Gomon 1983. Stomiidae: Melanostomiinae. Distribution: Western, central equatorial and northeastern Pacific. Habitat: marine.
