azureus, Epiplatys Berkenkamp [H. O.] & Etzel [V.] 1983:134, Figs. [Die Aquarien- und Terrarienzeitschrift (DATZ) v. 36 (no. 4); ref. 8371] 500 meters north of Yreah, 5°29'N, 8°50'W, Liberia. Holotype: SMF 14449. Paratypes: SMF 14450 (16). •Valid as Epiplatys azureus Berkenkamp & Etzel 1983 -- (Wildekamp et al. 1986:245 [ref. 6198], Paugy et al. 1990:341 [ref. 26477] with question, Lazara 2001:100 [ref. 25711]). •Synonym of Epiplatys olbrechtsi Poll 1941 -- (Romand in Lévêque et al. 1992:637 [ref. 21590], Seegers 1997:15 [ref. 23895]). •Synonym of Epiplatys olbrechtsi Poll 1941, but a valid subspecies -- (Wildekamp 1996:102 [ref. 23649]). Current status: Synonym of Epiplatys olbrechtsi Poll 1941. Nothobranchiidae. Distribution: Eastern central Liberia, western Africa (this subspecies). Habitat: freshwater.
