Lectotype: KIZ 6351069. Paralectotypes: (15) 1097, 5501-03, 5506, 5706, 5709, 5714-15, 5750-51, 5985, 5987, 5991; BU 001 (1); KIZ 635489 (1), 635961 (1), 635989 (1). Type catalog: Du et al. 2013:348 [ref. 32939]. Apparently later described as new in Tsu & Chen 1978:257 [English on p. 259], fig. 1 [ref. 9010], perhaps with different specimens. No holotype was established in 1977, so use of holotype is incorrect. Zhao et al. 2021:343 [ref. 39337] report KIZ 6351069 as holotype, we treat this as a lectotype selection. •Synonym of Sinocyclocheilus grahami (Regan 1904), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Chu & Cui in Chu & Chen 1989:172 [ref. 13584], Zheng et al. 1989:172 [ref. 21202], Yang & Chen 1995:71 [ref. 23555], Zhu 1995:53 [ref. 25213]). •Valid as Sinocyclocheilus yangzongensis Chu & Chen 1977 -- (Shan et al. in Yue 2000:65 [ref. 25272], Zhao & Zhang 2006:773 [ref. 31176], Romero et al. 2009 [ref. 30522], Zhao et al. 2011:1552 [ref. 31493], Ma & Zhao 2012:110 [ref. 34891] with author as Tsü & Chen, Zhang et al. 2016:104 [ref. 34477] with first author as Tsü dated 1982, Li et al. 2018:156 [ref. 35866], Zhao et al. 2021:342 [ref. 39337]). Current status: Valid as Sinocyclocheilus yangzongensis Chu & Chen 1977. Cyprinidae: Cyprininae. Distribution: East Asia: Lake Yangzonghai, Nanpanjiang River basin, Yunnan Province, China. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
