Holotype: HRA 80-1732. Paratypes: (52) HRA 80-1733 (1, allotype); to be deposited in NPIB and HRA: 77-537-561 (25), 80-1618 to 1625 (8), 80-1627 (1), 80-1640 ro 1642 (3), 80-1644 (1), 80-1700 to 1706 (7), 80-1708 to 1711 (4), 80-1713 (1), 80-1771 (1). •Synonym of Schizopygopsis microcephalus Herzenstein 1891, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Wu & Wu 1992:505 [ref. 21205]). •Synonym of Herzensteinia microcephalus (Herzenstein 1891), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Zhu 1995:95 [ref. 25213]). •Valid as Gymnocypris namensis (Wu & Ren 1982) -- (Zhang et al. 1995:110 [ref. 22734], Chen & Cao et al. in Yue 2000:363 [ref. 25272], Zhang et al. 2016:117 [ref. 34477], Tang et al. 2016:134 [ref. 34489]). •Valid as Schizopygopsis namensis (Wu & Ren 1982) -- (Tang et al. 2019:12 [ref. 36511]). Current status: Valid as Schizopygopsis namensis Wu & Ren 1982. Cyprinidae: Schizopygopsinae. Distribution: Lake Namtso, Tibet, China. Habitat: freshwater.
