Holotype: ZSI FF 1715. Paratypes: ZSI FF1716 (22). Also mentioned as new in Jayaram et al. 1982:111 [ref. 34179]. •Synonym of Puntius vittatus Day 1865 -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:293 [ref. 20764]). •Synonym of Tor khudree (Sykes 1839) -- (Menon 1999:59 [ref. 24904]). •Valid as Puntius coorgensis Jayaram 1982 -- (Yazdani & Singh 1994:109 [ref. 22067]). •Synonym of Oreichthys cosuatis (Hamilton 1822) -- (Menon 1999:84 [ref. 24904], Knight 2014:5360 [ref. 33151]). •Valid as Oreichthys coorgensis (Jayaram 1982) -- (Knight & Kumar 2015:162 [ref. 33663], Bleher 2018:626 [ref. 36647]). Current status: Valid as Oreichthys coorgensis (Jayaram 1982). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Cauvery River basin, southern India. Habitat: freshwater.
