Syntypes: IHB 58-4-34 (1), 58-4-41 (1), 58-4-44 (1), 58-4-49 (1), 58-4-52 (1), 58-4-62 (1), 58-4-65 (1) Yuan-Jiang, 64-4-572 to 573 (1, 1), 64-4-575 (1) He-kou. •Synonym of Gobiobotia longibarba Fang & Wang 1931, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Chen & Li in Chu & Chen 1989:121 [ref. 13584], Zhu 1995:101 [ref. 25213], Chen in Chen 1998:143 [ref. 23556], He & Chen in Chen et al. 1998:404 [ref. 23878]). •Tentatively a valid species as Gobiobotia yuanjiangensis Chen & Cao 1977 -- (Kottelat 2001:26 [ref. 25482]). •Valid as Gobiobotia yuanjiangensis Chen & Cao 1977 -- (Kottelat 2013:107 [ref. 32989], Wang et al. 2024:20 [ref. 40908]). Current status: Valid as Gobiobotia yuanjiangensis Chen & Cao 1977. Gobionidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Red River basin, Yunnan, China and northern Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
