M.] 1981:214, Figs. 8, 12 [Netherlands Journal of Zoology v. 31 (no. 1); ref. 8525] Near Nyamatala Island, northern Mwanza Gulf, Lake Victoria [Victoria Nyanza], Tanzania, depth 8.8-9.5 meters. Holotype: RMNH 28271. Paratypes: BMNH 1981.1.16.114-115 (2); RMNH 28265-70 (2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1), 28272-74 (1, 1, 1), 28325 (1, partially dissected). •Valid as Haplochromis cnester Witte & Witte-Maas 1981 -- (van Oijen et al. 1991:117 [ref. 20956]). Current status: Valid as Haplochromis cnester Witte & Witte-Maas 1981. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Victoria. Habitat: freshwater.
