Holotype: MNHN 1980-1533. Paratypes: AMS I.21895-001 (1); BPBM 26381 (1); CAS 19928 (11), 19930-31 (3, 3); MNHN 1887-0373 (1); GCRL 17000-02 (1, 3, 2); USNM 224025 (1). •Valid as Microphis cruentus Dawson & Fourmanoir 1981 -- (Dawson 1984:151 [ref. 5879], Dawson 1985:135 [ref. 6541], Paulus 1999:2271 [ref. 24794], Laboute & Grandperrin 2000:57 [ref. 25191], Fricke 2004:50 [ref. 28269], Kuiter 2009:274 [ref. 30404], Fricke et al. 2011:376 [ref. 31242], Hamilton et al. 2016:Supplement 4 [ref. 35615], Haÿ et al. 2023:22 [ref. 40264]). Current status: Valid as Microphis cruentus Dawson & Fourmanoir 1981. Syngnathidae: Nerophinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: New Caledonia. Habitat: freshwater.
