Holotype: USNM 219854. Paratypes: IOS Discovery 7089-14 (1); BMNH 1999.4.23.2 [ex 7836-1] (1); USNM 219855 (1), 219856 (orig. 1, now 0), 219857 (1); ZMUC [ex USNM 219856] (1). Tentatively referred (not types): SIO 68-483 (1), MCZ 49818 (1), LACM 32740-5 (1), IOS (1). Specimens tentatively referred are not considered types. Males unknown. •Valid as Linophryne pennibarbata Bertelsen 1980 -- (Bertelsen 1990:518 [ref. 15724], Pietsch 2003:1070 [ref. 27014], Mundy 2005:277 [ref. 28379], Pietsch 2009:495 [ref. 30766], Pietsch 2016:2076 [ref. 34597], Prokofiev 2020:402 [549] [ref. 37915], Page et al. 2023:167 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Linophryne pennibarbata Bertelsen 1980. Linophrynidae. Distribution: North Atlantic; southeastern Indian Ocean; northern-central Pacific: Hawaiian Islands. Habitat: marine.
