Holotype: USNM 114944. Paratypes: ANSP 75182 (181), BMNH 1957.1.21.1-10 (10), CAS 20715 (137), FMNH 61882 (54), CAS-SU 49169 [ex W56-241] (93), USNM 114945 (38 or 37), WAM P.25547-001 [ex ANSP 75182] (10). Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:81 [ref. 12367], Hutchins & Smith 1991:31 [ref. 19335], Moore et al. 2008:34 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Stegastes baldwini Allen & Woods 1980 -- (Allen 1991:253 [ref. 19344], Allen & Robertson 1994:190, 303 [ref. 22193], Schneider & Krupp in Fischer et al. 1995:1403 [ref. 22830], Béarez & Séret 2009:150 [ref. 36646]). Current status: Valid as Stegastes baldwini Allen & Woods 1980. Pomacentridae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Clipperton Island endemic. Habitat: marine.
