E.] 1979:329, Figs. 7, 13, 18, 21, 24, 26 [Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History v. 162 (art. 5); ref. 22796] Tributary of Río Chajmaic, 15 kilometers south (by road) of Sebol, Río Usumacinta system, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. Holotype: AMNH 36380. Paratypes: AMNH 24501 (4), 24564 (12), 36361-63 (16, 76, 102); UMMZ 187934 (91), 187940 (55), 187950 (262). •Valid as Heterandria dirempta Rosen 1979 -- (Lucinda in Reis et al. 2003:562 [ref. 27061], Lucinda & Reis 2005:40 [ref. 29205], McEachran & DeWitt 2008:52 [ref. 29720]). •Valid as Pseudoxiphophorus diremptus (Rosen 1979) -- (Radda 1985:128 [ref. 31261], Morales-Cazan & Albert 2012:22 [ref. 31911], Meyer 2015:342 [ref. 34698], Huber 2019:137 [ref. 36941], Barrientos et al. 2023:274 [ref. 41235], Quintana 2024:8 [ref. 41186]). Current status: Valid as Pseudoxiphophorus diremptus (Rosen 1979). Poeciliidae: Poeciliinae. Distribution: Central America: Chajmaic River drainage, Alta Verapaz (Guatemala) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
