Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:62 [ref. 19236], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:76 [ref. 12367], Walschaerts 1987:21 [ref. 20755], Ferraris 2007:245 [ref. 29155], Neumann 2011:268 [ref. 31652]. •Valid as Hemiloricaria formosa (Isbrücker & Nijssen 1979) -- (Isbrücker et al. 2001:23 [ref. 25649], Isbrücker 2001:27, 32 [ref. 25653], Isbrücker 2002:17 [ref. 27178], Ferraris 2007:245 [ref. 29155]). •Valid as Rineloricaria formosa Isbrücker & Nijssen 1979 -- (Isbrücker 1980:105 [ref. 2303], Burgess 1989:442 [ref. 12860], Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:342 [ref. 27061], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:78 [ref. 35633]). Current status: Valid as Rineloricaria formosa Isbrücker & Nijssen 1979. Loricariidae: Loricariinae. Distribution: Western Orinoco and upper Amazon River basins: Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
