shakai, Halimuraena Winterbottom [R.] 1978:49, Figs. 1-2 [Zoologica Africana v. 13 (no. 1); ref. 8859] Off Sodwana Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, sothwestern Indian Ocean, 27°31'S, 32°41'E, depth 12.8 meters. Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 904. Paratypes: BMNH 1977.1.10.1 (1); SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 905 (6), 906 (5), 907 (2, c&s), 908 (3), 909 (3), 910 (1); USNM 216604 (1). •Valid as Halimuraena shakai Winterbottom 1978 -- (Winterbottom 1986:17 [ref. 5727], Winterbottom 1986:729 [ref. 5728], Fricke 1999:215 [ref. 24106], Heemstra et al. 2004:3319 [ref. 27945], Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:178 [ref. 28072], Winterbottom & Santini 2022:121 [ref. 39749]). Current status: Valid as Halimuraena shakai Winterbottom 1978. Pseudochromidae: Congrogadinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) and Mozambique east to Comoros and Mascarenes (Mauritius). Habitat: marine.
