E.] 1978:14, Fig. 8 [Smithsonian Contributions to Zoology No. 268; ref. 4181] Deep gully in reef 6.5 kilometers north of Island Rock, 27°13'21"S, 32°47'48"E, KwaZulu-Natal, southwestern Indian Ocean, depth 2 meters. Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 800. Paratypes: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 521 [not 801] (1), USNM 216554 [ex RUSI 521] (1). Type catalog: Springer et al. 1991:20 [ref. 18888]. •Valid as Mimoblennius rusi Springer & Spreitzer 1978 -- (Springer 1986:749 [ref. 5719], Fricke 1999:486 [ref. 24106], Patzner et al. 2009:457 [ref. 30396], Allen & Erdmann 2012:829 [ref. 31980], Arndt & Fricke 2019:13 [ref. 36883], Williams & Springer 2022:367 [ref. 39951], Fricke et al. 2024:68 [ref. 41255]). Current status: Valid as Mimoblennius rusi Springer & Spreitzer 1978. Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), Comoros, western Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius) and Andaman Islands (India). Habitat: marine.
