Holotype: MNHN 1977-0306. Paratypes: LACM 36549-0001 to 0004 (4). •Valid as Diaphus knappi Nafpaktitis 1978 -- (Paxton 1979:10 [ref. 6440], Fujii in Okamura et al. 1982:105, 338 [ref. 8256], Fujii in Masuda et al. 1984:73 [ref. 6441], Hulley 1986:292 [ref. 5672], Kao & Shao 1996:4 [ref. 24963], Nakabo 2000:394 [ref. 25086], Paxton & Hulley in Randall & Lim 2000:593 [ref. 25122], Wang & Chen 2001:109 [ref. 25464], Shinohara et al. 2001:301 [ref. 25995], Nakabo 2002:394 [ref. 26001], Fricke et al. 2009:25 [ref. 30213], Fricke et al. 2018:76 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Diaphus knappi Nafpaktitis 1978. Myctophidae: Diaphinae. Distribution: Widespread in Indo-West Pacific. Habitat: marine.
