Holotype: LACM 37506-1. Paratypes: LACM 37506-2 (5), 37507-1 (5); UCR (17 lots); UF 25174 (5); UMMZ 202343 (5, 1 c&s), 202344 (5, 1 c&s), 202345 (5); USNM 218529-30 (5, 5). Type catalog: Angulo et al. 2015:368 [ref. 35212]. •Valid as Melaniris hubbsi Bussing 1979 -- (Villa 1982:139 [ref. 36708], Bussing 1987:159 [ref. 22927], Bussing 1998:241 [ref. 24179]). •Valid as Atherinella hubbsi (Bussing 1979) -- (Chernoff 1986:244 [ref. 5847], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:516 [ref. 27061], Angulo et al. 2013:995 [ref. 33194], Angulo et al. 2023:57 [ref. 40676]). Current status: Valid as Atherinella hubbsi (Bussing 1979). Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Distribution: Central America: Lake Nicaragua basin (Costa Rica and Nicaragua). Habitat: freshwater.
