casachicus, Benthophilus stellatus Ragimov [D. B.] 1978:725 [705], Fig. [Voprosy Ikhtiologii v. 18 (no. 5); ref. 8998] Kenderli Spit, eastern shore of the middle Caspian Sea, depth 36 meters. Holotype: ZISP 53661. Paratypes: (3) Caspian Biol. Station IZA 204 (2) whereabouts unknown. Description on p. 705 of English translation. •Mention -- (Kottelat 1997:176 [ref. 22952]). •Synonym of Benthophilus stellatus (Sauvage 1874), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Coad 1995:30 [ref. 23608]). •Valid as Benthophilus casachicus Ragimov 1978 -- (Reshetnikov et al. 1997:752 [ref. 24702], Vasil'eva 1998:127 [ref. 23591], Bogutskaya et al. 2001:47 [ref. 26178], Vasil'eva & Miller in Miller 2004:182 [ref. 27853], Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:215 [ref. 28183], Boldyrev & Bogutskaya 2004:132 [ref. 28099], Boldyrev & Bogutskaya 2007:69 [ref. 29150], Neilson & Stepien 2009:96 [ref. 30487], Esmaeili et al. 2010:376 [ref. 33391], Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. 2015:897 [ref. 34062], Esmaeili et al. 2017:80 [ref. 35254], Esmaeili et al. 2018:60 [ref. 36089]). Current status: Valid as Benthophilus casachicus Ragimov 1978. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Caspian Sea basin, Eurasia. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
