Paratypes: OSU 5187 (35), UMMZ 136871 (146, now 144), 2 on loan to Bond. Not paratypes: UF [ex UMMZ 136871] (8). Type catalog: Gilbert 1998:160 [ref. 23395]. The specimesn at UF may not have been seen by the authors. •Synonym of Gila bicolor (Girard 1856), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Gilbert 1998:124 [ref. 23395], Moyle 2002:123 [ref. 26449]). •Synonym of Siphateles bicolor (Girard 1856) -- (Scharpf 2005:41 [ref. 28940]). Current status: Synonym of Siphateles bicolor (Girard 1856). Leuciscidae: Laviniinae. Distribution: California, U.S.A. [subspecies vaccaceps]. Habitat: freshwater.
