Type catalog: Moritz & Britz 2019:[38] [ref. 36886]. Original spelling is endlicherii. Also appeared as Polypterus endlicheri without description in Heckel 1847:46 [ref. 26435]. •Valid as Polypterus endlicherii Heckel 1847, subspecies endlicherii -- (Lévêque et al. 1989:113 [ref. 26480] dated 1849). •Valid as Polypterus endlicherii Heckel 1847 -- (Gosse 1984:22 [ref. 6169] as endlicheri, Gosse in Lévêque et al. 1990:84 [ref. 21589] as endlicheri, Poll & Gosse 1995:28 [ref. 24781] as endlicheri, Dankwa et al. 1999:11 [ref. 28023] as endlicheri, De Vos et al. 2001:129, 131 [ref. 26059] dated 1849 as endlicheri, Britz 2004:184 [ref. 27800] as endlicheri, Hauber et al. 2011:81 [ref. 31428] as endlicheri, Neumann et al. 2016:303 [ref. 35036], Moritz & Britz 2019:[38] [ref. 36886], Fermon et al. 2022:110 [ref. 39448]).
