Holotype: MRAC 79-1-P-137 [ex. Coll. Parc Nat. Upemba]. Paratypes: IRSNB 718 (1); MRAC 85753 (1), 174702-707 (6), 79-1-P-138-140 (3). Type catalog: Derijst 1991:32 [ref. 21528]. •Valid as Brienomyrus tavernei Poll 1972 -- (Gosse 1984:65 [ref. 6169]). •Possibly valid as Paramormyrops tavernei (Poll 1972) -- (Rich et al. 2017:[14] [ref. 35306]). •Valid as Paramormyrops tavernei (Poll 1972) -- (Abwe et al. 2023:28 [ref. 39992]). •Valid as Heteromormyrus tavernei (Poll 1972) -- (Sullivan et al. 2022:177 [ref. 39811]). Current status: Valid as Heteromormyrus tavernei (Poll 1972). Mormyridae. Distribution: Southern-central Africa: Congo River basin. Habitat: freshwater.
