Holotype (unique): AMNH 6933. •Valid as Hippopotamyrus retrodorsalis (Nichols & Griscom 1917) -- (Gosse 1984:77 [ref. 6169], Kramer & Swartz 2010:2230 [ref. 30915]). •Valid as Paramormyrops retrodorsalis (Nichols & Griscom 1917) -- (Rich et al. 2017:[13] [ref. 35306]). Current status: Valid as Paramormyrops retrodorsalis (Nichols & Griscom 1917). Mormyridae. Distribution: Congo, Central Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
