Type by monotypy. •Valid as Bathymaster Cope 1873 -- (Amaoka in Masuda et al. 1984:289 [ref. 6441], Shinohara et al. 1992 [ref. 20427], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:665 [ref. 25968], Mecklenburg 2003:2 [ref. 27296], Stevenson & Matarese 2005:388 [ref. 28265], Parin et al. 2014:382 [ref. 33547]). Current status: Valid as Bathymaster Cope 1873. Bathymasteridae.

Rathbunella Jordan [D. S.] & Evermann [B. W.] 1896:463 Fem. Bathymaster hypoplectus Gilbert 1890. Type by original designation (also monotypic). According to Mecklenburg 2003:2 [ref. 27296], authors have mentioned, although not described, up to six species of Rathbunella, and Kiernan (1990:99 [ref. 26625]) found up to 10 different unavailable names in museum lots she examined, and she apportioned them among the two species R. alleni and R. hypoplecta. •Valid as Rathbunella Jordan & Evermann 1896 -- (Mecklenburg 2003:2 [ref. 27296], Stevenson & Matarese 2005:380 [ref. 28265]). Current status: Valid as Rathbunella Jordan & Evermann 1896. Bathymasteridae.

Type by monotypy. •Valid as Ronquilus Jordan & Starks 1895 -- (Mecklenburg et al. 2002:665 [ref. 25968], Mecklenburg 2003:3 [ref. 27296], Stevenson & Matarese 2005:375 [ref. 28265], Pietsch & Orr 2015:57 [ref. 34694]). Current status: Valid as Ronquilus Jordan & Starks 1895. Bathymasteridae.
