Anacanthus Cuvier [G.] (ex Ehrenberg) 1829:400 Masc. Raja uarnak?. Appeared only as "Les Anacanthes" with mention of "Raia orbicularis B.Schn." (species apparently never described); Jordan (1917:131 [ref. 2407]) gives type as Raja uarnak Forsskål. Subsequent Latinization not researched. •In the synonymy of Himantura Müller & Henle 1837. Current status: Synonym of Himantura Müller & Henle 1837. Dasyatidae: Urogymninae.
