Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Gonostoma Rafinesque 1810 in fishes; Bleeker 1849 described as Anodontostoma, with his species hasseltii (with "Gonostoma javanicum K. v. H." in synonymy but never described by them). Apparently Hyrtl 1855 was first to technically add a species to Gonostoma van Hasselt. •Questionably in the synonymy of Anodontostoma Bleeker 1849 -- (Whitehead 1985:252 [ref. 5141]), but in any event preoccupied. • In the synonymy of Anodontostoma Bleeker 1849 -- (Kottelat 2013:58 [ref. 32989]). 1°Homonym.
