Holotype (unique): AMS I.12841. •Questionably valid -- (Paulin et al. 1989:188 [ref. 24556]). •Synonym of Arripis truttacea (Cuvier 1829) -- (Paulin 1993:465 [ref. 20997] as truttaceus, Gomon et al. 1994:595 [ref. 22532] as truttaceus, Bray et al. 2006:1329 [ref. 29091] as truttaceus). Current status: Synonym of Arripis truttacea (Cuvier 1829). Arripidae. Habitat: marine.

Syntypes: MNHN 0000-6985(2), 0000-6986 (1). Type catalog: Bauchot & Desoutter 1987:114-115 [ref. 12478], Bauchot & Desoutter 1989:8 [ref. 15502]. Original genus should have been Centropristis. Combined with a genus of female gender, the adjective should be georgiana. •Valid as Arripis georgiana (Valenciennes 1831) [often seen as georgianus] -- (Paulin 1993:460 [ref. 20997], Kuiter 1993:180 [ref. 23929], Gomon et al. 1994:593 [ref. 22532], Hutchins 2001:33 [ref. 25847], Bray et al. 2006:1328 [ref. 29091], Gomon 2008:597 [ref. 30616], Hoschke et al. 2019:157 [ref. 36626]). sapidissimus, Centropristes Richardson [J.] (ex Solander) 1842:79 [Transactions of the Zoological Society of London v. 3 (pt 1) (art. 5); ref. 13097] Tegadoo Bay. No types known. Based on four figures of New Zealand fishes in the Banksian Library; names on plates variously as Sciaena mulloides sapidissimus, Mulloides sapidissimus, and other inscriptions. See Whitley 1929:122 [ref. 4665]. Regarded as unavailable -- not recognized as valid when proposed, tentatively referred by Richardson to Centropristes truttaceus Cuvier 1829. Original genus should have been Centropristis. •Questionably in the synonymy of Arripis trutta (Forster 1801) -- (Paulin 1993:462 [ref. 20997]). Current status: Synonym of Arripis trutta (Forster 1801). Arripidae.

Neotype designated by Paulin 1993:464 [ref. 20997]. Based on description in manuscript by Forster (Johann Reinhold Forster, 1729-1798, German explorer and naturalist of Cook's second voyage). truttaceus, Centropristes Cuvier [G.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1829:50 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 3; ref. 4879] Port Western, Victoria, Australia. Holotype: MNHN 0000-6984. Non-types: ?MNHN 0000-6987 (2), ?B-2913 (1). Type catalog: Bauchot & Desoutter 1987:115 [ref. 12478] and Bauchot & Desoutter 1989:8 [ref. 15502] with holotype MNHN 6984. Paulin lists 4 syntypes -- two (MNHN 6987) as another species and 6984 and B2913 as the true truttaceus. Since Bauchot & Desoutter did not indicate an awareness of other specimens (and only one was mentioned in the original description) then their "holotype" can be regarded as the lectotype (Art. 74.6 of the Code). Originally as Centropristes? truttaceus. Original genus should have been Centropristis. Combined with a genus of female gender, the adjective should be truttacea. •Valid as Arripis truttaceus (Cuvier 1829) -- (Paulin 1993:465 [ref. 20997], Bray et al. 2006:1328 [ref. 29091], Gomon 2008:598 [ref. 30616], Hoschke et al. 2019:157 [ref. 36626]). •Valid as Arripis truttacea (Cuvier 1829) -- (Kuiter 1993:174 [ref. 23929] with author as Johnston 1882, Hutchins 2001:33 [ref. 25847]). Current status: Valid as Arripis truttacea (Cuvier 1829). Arripidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean: Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. Habitat: brackish, marine.
