Current status: Valid as Paralichthodes algoensis Gilchrist 1902. Paralichthodidae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic and southwestern Indian Ocean: Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) north to southern Mozambique. Habitat: marine.
