Appeared as Trachinus gasteropelecus vel Trichodon Stelleri; figured as Trachinus trichodon in plate. •Synonym of Trichodon trichodon (Tilesius 1813) -- (Mecklenburg 2003:2 [ref. 27305]). Current status: Synonym of Trichodon trichodon (Tilesius 1813). Trichodontidae. Habitat: marine.

hachirogatensis, Arctoscopus japonicus Hatai [K.] 1955:29, Figs. 7-8 [Records of Oceanographic Works in Japan v. 2 (no. 3); ref. 12274] Hachiro-gata, Akita Prefecture, Japan. Holotype (unique): Dept. Geol. Tohuku Univ., Sendai, Reg. No. P-116. Subspecies hachirogatensis is based on an otolith of a recent species. •Synonym of Arctoscopus japonicus (Steindachner 1881) -- (Mecklenburg 2003:1 [ref. 27305], Dyldin & Orlov 2017:186 [ref. 35257]). Current status: Synonym of Arctoscopus japonicus (Steindachner 1881). Trichodontidae. Habitat: marine.

stelleri, Trichodon Cuvier [G.] 1829:149 [Le Règne Animal (Edition 2) v. 2; ref. 995] Kamchatka, Russia; Capes of Cronok and Sechemoetschik, and all over Unalaska Island. Holotype (unique): ZMB 8189 (dry). Unneeded new name for Trachinus trichodon Pallas [not Tilesius], apparently to avoid Strickland tautonymy. The Pallas specimen is in Berlin. •Synonym of Trichodon trichodon (Tilesius 1813) -- (Mecklenburg et al. 2002:793 [ref. 25968], Mecklenburg 2003:2 [ref. 27305]). Current status: Synonym of Trichodon trichodon (Tilesius 1813). Trichodontidae. Habitat: marine.

Species is incorrectly spelled as Drachinus trichodon in the list of plates on the title page (p. 406), as Trachinus gasteropelecus vel Trichodon stelleri on p. 466; spelling corrected as Trachinus trichodon in text and below the figure of the specimen on Pl. 15 (fig. 8) -- see Mecklenburg 2003:2 [ref. 27305].
