Holotype (unique): CAS-SU 59634. •Valid as Aethotaxis mitopteryx DeWitt 1962 -- (Kotlyar 1979:[324] [ref. 39534], DeWitt et al. 1990:283 [ref. 21696], Miller 1993:249 [ref. 21297], Voskoboinikova & Kellermann 1997:232 [ref. 23329], Trunov 1999:467 [ref. 24579], Eastman & Eakin 2000:15 [ref. 24631], Balushkin 2000:S97 [ref. 29555], Miller 2001:447 [ref. 36665], Eastman & Eakin 2021:[2] [ref. 38307]). Current status: Valid as Aethotaxis mitopteryx DeWitt 1962. Nototheniidae: Pleuragrammatinae. Distribution: Southern Ocean: circum-Antarctic. Habitat: marine.

pawsoni, Aethotaxis mitopteryx Miller [R. G.] 1993:251, Pl. 45 [History and atlas of the fishes of the Antarctic Ocean; ref. 21297] Antarctic Peninsular waters, Scotia and Weddell Seas, East Antarctic Shelf, depth 390-850 meters. Syntypes: USNM 214688 (1) South Shetland Plateau. Based on specimens in several references. •Synonym of Aethotaxis mitopteryx DeWitt 1962, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Miller 2001:451 [ref. 36665]). Current status: Synonym of Aethotaxis mitopteryx DeWitt 1962. Nototheniidae: Pleuragrammatinae. Habitat: marine.
