Syntypes and/or Bleeker specimens: ?BMNH 1867.22.28.5 (1), ?MNHN 0000-3609 (1), SMNS 10620 (1 syntype). Type catalog: Bertin 1940:272 [ref. 293], Fricke 1991:18 [ref. 13474], Fricke 2005:50 [ref. 29864]. Appeared first apparently without distinguishing features [not translated] in Bleeker 1845:510 [ref. 312] and spelled lopies; appeared in Bleeker 1850:12 [ref. 16883] without distinguishing features and spelled lopis. Probably dates to 1851 as above and spelled lopis. •Valid as Chitala lopis (Bleeker 1851) -- (Roberts 1992:370 [ref. 20012], Roberts 1993:14 [ref. 21799], Kottelat et al. 1993:4 [ref. 23448], Rainboth 1996:56 [ref. 22772], Ng & Tan 1999:352 [ref. 24159], Kottelat 2001:26 [ref. 25780], Kottelat 2013:33 [ref. 32989], Ng et al. 2019:519 [ref. 36606] as aff. lopis, Taki et al. 2021:44 [ref. 39830], Musikasinthorn & Ngamtampong 2023:53 [ref. 40090], Wibowo et al. 2023:287 [ref. 40690]).
