Species in the genus Dictyosoma: [ 4 ] records

burgeri, Dictyosoma van der Hoeven [J.] 1855:347 [Handboek der Dierkunde; ref. 2182] Simabara [Shimabara] Bay, Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. Holotype (unique): destroyed. Based on Schlegel Faun. Jap. Pisces, Pl. 73, fig. 3 (= Temminck & Schlegel 1845:Pl. 73 (fig. 3) [ref. 4373]). Because van der Hoeven based his name only on a single, illustrated specimen (from Simabara Bay), the species has one type specimen. There cannot be 5 syntypes of Dictyosoma burgeri as indicated by Yatsu et al. 1978:43-44 [ref. 8858]. See Mecklenburg & Sheiko 2004:20 [ref. 27604] for use of burgeri. •Valid as Dictyosoma burgeri van der Hoeven 1855 -- (Lindberg & Krasyukova 1975:116 [ref. 7348] as buergeri, Amaoka & Miki in Masuda et al. 1984:303 [ref. 6441], Cheng & Zhou 1997:327 [ref. 26385] dated 1850, Nakabo 2000:1049 [ref. 25182], Shinohara et al. 2000:181 [ref. 25987], Nakabo 2002:1049 [ref. 26193], Choi et al. 2003:377, 642 [ref. 26218], Mecklenburg & Sheiko 2004:20 [ref. 27604], Ji & Kim 2012:55 [ref. 32289], Kwun et al. 2017:142 [ref. 37287], Kim et al. 2020:157 [ref. 39118]). •Synonym of Dictyosoma temminckii Burger 1853 -- (Parin et al. 2014:439 [ref. 33547]). Current status: Synonym of Dictyosoma temminckii Bleeker 1853. Cebidichthyidae. Habitat: marine.

rubrimaculata, Dictyosoma Yatsu [A.], Yasuda [F.] & Taki [Y.] 1978:41, Figs. 1, 2, 3a, 4 [Japanese Journal of Ichthyology v. 25 (no. 1); ref. 8858] Kominato, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Holotype: NSMT-P 18401. Paratypes: FSKU 750812 (1); MTUF 22485 (1), 22487-91 (5), 22516 (1, c&s), 22519 (2), 22530-32 (3), 22596 (1), 22761 (1, c&s), 22814 & 22484 (3), 22686 (1), 22910-11 (2), 22914 (1), 22955 (1), 23116 (6), 23967-78 (12), 22955 (1), 23116 (6), 23967-78 (12), 23979 (4); NSMT-P 18402-03 (1, 1); YCM 3251-2 (1), 3251-3 (1), 3378 (2). Type catalog: Shibata et al. 2011:16 [ref. 31469]. Dictysoma is neuter, so species should be rubrimaculatum. •Valid as Dictyosoma rubrimaculata Yatsu, Yasuda & Taki 1978 -- (Amaoka & Miki in Masuda et al. 1984:303 [ref. 6441], Shinohara et al. 2000:181 [ref. 25987], Choi et al. 2003:377, 642 [ref. 26218], Ji & Kim 2012:55 [ref. 32289]). •Valid as Dictyosoma rubrimaculatum Yatsu, Yasuda & Taki 1978 -- (Nakabo 2000:1049 [ref. 25182], Nakabo 2002:1049 [ref. 26193], Mecklenburg & Sheiko 2004:21 [ref. 27604], Shibata et al. 2011:16 [ref. 31469], Kwun et al. 2017:142 [ref. 37287], Kim et al. 2020:157 [ref. 39118], Sonoyama et al. 2020:95 [ref. 37637]).
