Type catalog: Blanc & Hureau 1968:52 [ref. 20738] with 7155 as holotype; based on literature sources and one specimen; MNHN 7155 designated lectotype by Eschmeyer 1998:1679 [ref. 23416]. Apparently based on Cottus hemilepidotus Tilesius and Cottus trachurus Pallas.
