Holotype: ANSP 75156. Paratypes: ANSP 75157 (now 7, orig. 10), 75158 (1, stained), 75159-60 (1, 3), 75161 (1, stained), 75162 (1), 119074 [ex 75157] (1, missing); SMF 4775 [ex ANSP 75157] (1); CAS-SU 52107 [ex ANSP 75157] (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:64 [ref. 13621]. If the e. and w. Atlantic populations are considered separate species, H. longissimus applies to the e. Atlantic form and H. halis to the w.
