The paralectotype AMS I.12765 was reidentified as Inegocia japonica (Cuvier 1829) -- (Imamura & Yoshino 2009:310 [ref. 30527]). See Platycephalus borboniensis Cuvier 1829 and Platycephalus isacanthus Cuvier 1829, which are synonyms published in the same paper as Platycephalus japonicus Cuvier 1829. Imamura & Yoshino 2009:310 [ref. 30527] acted as the first revisers establishing the precedence of Platycephalus japonicus Cuvier 1829.
