Current status: Valid as Lioscorpius brevirostris Wada & Motomura 2022. Scorpaenidae: Setarchinae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Fiji. Habitat: marine.

trifasciatus, Lioscorpius Last [P. R.], Yearsley [G. K.] & Motomura [H.] 2005:13, Fig. 1 [Zootaxa No. 1038; ref. 28323] South of Saumarez Reef, 22°34'-35'S, 153°37'-40'E, Coral Sea, western Pacific. Holotype: CSIRO H 601-18. Paratypes: AMS I 20437-002 (1), 30094-001 (1); CSIRO H 595-16 (2), H 601-19 (5); QM I 21042 (1), I 33989 (2).
